Skeleton

Rattling bones and relentless numbers define the endless tide of these undead foot soldiers.

Skeleton

The Skeleton is a ubiquitous undead adversary found throughout the cursed lands of Vampire Survivors, serving as one of the most common threats to aspiring survivors. These reanimated bones act as the basic infantry of the necromantic hordes, often appearing in overwhelming numbers during early game stages. They are characterized by their relentless pursuit and simple, melee-focused aggression, making them a constant test of the player's crowd control abilities.

Lore & Background

Unlike more intelligent undead such as Witches or Mages, Skeletons possess no memory of their former lives nor any capacity for independent thought. They are the raw material of the apocalypse, harvested from ancient battlefields and forgotten graveyards. Their presence signals that a region has been thoroughly corrupted, where even the earth itself refuses to let its children rest.

In Their Own Story

The moon hung low over the Gallo Tower graveyard as the survivor's footsteps crunched on dry grass. From the shadows of broken headstones, they emerged—not with screams, but with the dry clatter of bone against stone. A hundred pairs of hollow eye sockets locked onto the intruder. They did not speak; they simply advanced, a rattling tide of white and grey, their movements jerky yet relentless. One lunged forward, its jaw snapping shut on empty air before another took its place, an endless cycle of death that refused to end.

Reader's Guide

Skeletons are the foundational enemy type found in almost every stage, from the sun-drenched plains of The Bone Zone to the misty depths of other early areas. They move at a moderate pace but excel in numbers, often spawning in large packs that can overwhelm unprepared survivors through sheer density. Their attack pattern is straightforward: they sprint directly toward the player until reaching melee range, where they deliver a quick, damaging strike. Unlike ranged enemies, they require close proximity to deal harm, making them vulnerable to area-of-effect weapons like Garlic or Magic Wand. They do not possess special abilities or projectiles, relying entirely on their ability to swarm. While individually weak, Skeletons become dangerous when mixed with other undead types that can block movement or provide buffs. Players should prioritize crowd control items early on to manage these hordes effectively. As the game progresses and levels increase, Skeletons may appear in larger waves alongside tougher variants, maintaining their role as the primary filler for enemy density.
