Lancer
A relentless homing spear that pierces foes and returns to strike again.
The Lancer is a versatile projectile weapon in Vampire Survivors, characterized by its ability to launch homing spears that pierce through enemies and return to the user like boomerangs. Originally associated with the character Mothman, it serves as a reliable source of consistent damage throughout early to mid-game runs, capable of clearing dense crowds when fully upgraded. As a weapon, the Lancer represents the concept of relentless pursuit; once thrown, its projectiles seek out targets with unwavering determination. It is a staple for players who prefer a balanced approach between area control and single-target efficiency, often serving as a foundational piece in builds that focus on projectile speed and area coverage.

Lore & Background
In the chaotic wastelands where the undead roam freely, the Lancer is said to be forged from the hardened will of those who refuse to yield. Legends among the survivors speak of a weapon that never truly leaves its master's side; even when hurled into the fray, it bends the very air around it to find purchase in the flesh of monsters before snapping back to safety. The design of the Lancer is often attributed to ancient survivalists who understood that in a world overrun by hordes, every ounce of energy must be conserved. By creating a projectile that returns, the wielder ensures they are never left defenseless while their attack is mid-flight. This philosophy of efficiency and persistence has made the Lancer a symbol of endurance for many who brave the night.
In Their Own Story
The fog rolled thick over the graveyard as Mothman adjusted his grip on the strange, glowing spear. A horde of zombies shuffled forward, eyes gleaming with hunger in the moonlight. With a sharp flick of his wrist, he launched the Lancer. It didn't just fly; it hunted. The spear spiraled through the air, ignoring the wind to slam into the chest of the lead zombie, piercing straight through before vanishing from sight. A moment later, it zipped back from behind the enemy line, picking off a straggler on its return path before settling silently at Mothman's feet, ready for the next throw.
Reader's Guide
The Lancer fires homing spears that automatically target the nearest enemy within range. Upon impact, these projectiles pierce through multiple foes and then curve back to the player, dealing damage again if they hit another enemy on the return trip. To upgrade the Lancer, players must collect Weapon Power-ups found in chests or dropped by enemies. As the weapon levels up from 1 to 8, it gains increased attack speed, projectile count (up to three spears at once), and range. Higher levels also improve the homing accuracy and the area of effect. The Lancer can evolve into the "Spinach" variant when combined with the specific passive item "Spinach" and reaching level 8. This evolution significantly boosts the weapon's power, allowing it to deal massive damage while maintaining its homing properties.
